We are proud to share that the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto (CAST) has once again been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers 2026. Now in its 19th year, this national designation honours organizations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to workplace diversity and inclusion. We are honoured to be recognized alongside fellow employers who continue to raise the standard for equitable and inclusive workplaces across the country.

At CAST, we are committed to fostering a workplace where staff feel valued, supported and empowered to bring their full identities to work. This commitment strengthens not only our internal culture, but also in our goals to serve children, youth and families through an equity lens and culturally responsive supports.

Key initiatives that contributed to this recognition include:

  • Expanded Employee Resource Groups (ERGs): A cornerstone of our equity strategy, our ERGs foster belonging, peer connection, leadership development and cultural celebration. We grew from four to eight groups to create additional spaces for staff to connect and support one another.
  • Mental Health and Well-being: We embed mental health supports into everyday work life through year-round programming offered by our Employee and Family Assistance Program provider. During Mental Health Month, specifically, staff had access to seminars and on-demand tools focused on building resilience, managing stress and navigating change.
  • Pride Month Programming: We hosted three hybrid events that amplified the voices of 2SLGBTQ+ community and government representatives, artists and professionals. These sessions focused on strengthening our ability to support and affirm 2SLGBTQ+ children, youth and families while reinforcing a culture of allyship across the Agency.
  • Black History Month: Guided by the theme Roots of Resilience our staff participated in curated events across multiple office locations that encouraged reflection, dialogue and celebration of Black leadership, histories and contributions that continue to shape and strengthen our communities.
  • Speakers Bureau Relaunch: With new content, a refreshed process, and a roster of 16 trained staff speakers, the relaunch of our Speakers Bureau expanded opportunities for employees to build public speaking skills, strengthen leadership capacity, and engage diverse audiences through tailored Duty to Report presentations.

“This recognition reflects our ongoing responsibility to foster an inclusive workplace,” said Colin Hill, Chief Human Resources Officer at CAST. “We remain committed to listening, learning and building an equitable environment where our staff can feel empowered and supported.”
