PRIDE Training
The Parent Resources for Information, Development, and Education (PRIDE) pre-service training is Ontario’s standardized training curriculum for Foster, Kinship in Care, and Adoptive applicants. This is a mandatory 27-hour training that all applicants are required to complete as part of the assessment and approval process. Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Adoption and child welfare systems, processes, and laws
- Attachment and loss
- Child development and issues specific to the needs of adopted children
- The effects of neglect, lack of stimulation, abuse, and institutionalization on children
- Identity formation and the importance of cultural and racial awareness
- The importance of connections and continuity for children
The Children’s Aid Society of Toronto only offers PRIDE training to applicants who are open to fostering and adopting through our Agency. If you are considering private or international adoption please contact the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies or the Adoption Council of Ontario. If you are considering fostering through a private agency, please contact the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies.
