April 19, 2026 – In time with National Volunteer Week (April 19-25), the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto (CAST) is inviting our community members to step forward as Child Transportation Centre (CTC) Volunteer Drivers.
This year’s National Volunteer Week theme, Ignite Volunteerism, celebrates civic participation, volunteer stories and the power of community service to create positive change. At CAST, that impact is brought to life through CTC Volunteer Drivers who help children and youth stay connected to the people and supports that matter most.
CTC Volunteer Drivers are integral members of CAST’s volunteer team by supporting children and youth, from infants to teenagers, by ensuring they are transported safely to and from family visits, foster care homes and residences, medical appointments, school-related commitments and more. These rides help create consistency, stability and connection for the young person.
To support volunteers in this role, CAST provides the resources needed to succeed, including flexible scheduling, compensation for mileage and cell phone use, in-depth training and orientation, and real-time, ongoing support.
“We see every day how small acts, like a safe and reliable ride, can make a big difference for children, youth and families,” said Mary Auld, Director of Resources for Children and Youth at CAST. “We’ve built this role to be both meaningful and well-supported, making it a great fit for those in supporting sectors, as well as students, new graduates and retirees who want to give back while gaining valuable experience supporting families.”
