We are thrilled to announce that once again, the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto (CAST) has been named as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers by Mediacorp Canada Inc. This title is awarded to organizations who have exceptional workplace diversity and inclusiveness programs, rooted in transparency and accountability.
This award recognizes our Agency’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) are at the core of our work together with our employees, partners, communities and the families who cross paths with our organization. Internally, our focus remains on growing our dedicated EDI department, and ensuring equitable representation across all levels and roles through our Equity-Based Hiring Strategy, and an Indigenous and Racialized Mentorship Pilot Program.
Externally, we continue to prioritize building partnerships with identity-focused professionals and social service agencies who can support our work with 2SLGBTQ+ communities, Black communities, and other equity-deserving groups. Further details about these initiatives and partnerships can be found in our Annual Report here.
As shared by Ana Ibarra, our Director of EDI, “At CAST, we’re taking intentional steps to ensure that our decisions and actions are being informed through a lens of equity. We’re focused on building a culture of learning, collaboration and leadership, that promotes diversity of thought and ensures our workplace reflects the diversity of the communities we serve."
We encourage those interested in learning more about our award-winning workplace, to review our feature on page 6 of a special Globe and Mail magazine here.
