CAS of Toronto Celebrates National Volunteer Week

Posted by catherine on April 21st, 2010

CAS of Toronto recognizes and thanks all of its volunteers during National Volunteer Week (April 19-25, 2010).  Volunteers play an essential role in helping us reach our vision of, “Leading with excellence and working in partnership, we will create a city where children are safe, families are strong and communities are supported.”

We have more than 600 volunteers who help make the lives of children, youth and families better through their contributions as Special Friends to a parent or child, as tutors and drivers, volunteering at supervised access visits and special events as well as volunteering in our Donation Room. They are part of the more than 1.2 million volunteers in Canada who donate their time, energy, skills and expertise to better the lives of people, communities and our country.

Thanks to each and every one of our volunteers for their time, dedication and efforts in improving the lives of the families, youth and children that we serve.

Toy Room Program

Posted by catherine on November 25th, 2009

Throughout the year the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto organizes six Toy Rooms to distribute NEW toys, books, and clothing as well as gift certificates to children, youth and families we serve.

The success of our Toy Rooms is because you assist us in stocking them. We hope you will be able to help us by donating a selection of gifts suitable for girls and boys from newborns to older youth. Many businesses and organizations ask their staff to bring gift certificates and/or new, unwrapped gifts to their holiday or seasonal parties. (more…)

If you are unable to commit one year, then please ask about other volunteer opportunities at your local Volunteer Centre. (more…)

THE GREATEST NEED

Special Friends and Tutors:

If you are?

  • Child focused
  • Easy to get along with
  • Enjoy activities with children and or youth
  • Flexible
  • Committed
  • Reliable
  • Ready to travel (many of our children come from transient families and move somewhat frequently within Toronto and the greater Toronto area)

Then you will make a terrific special friend or tutor volunteer to a child.
