Toy Room Program

Posted by catherine on November 25th, 2009

Throughout the year the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto organizes six Toy Rooms to distribute NEW toys, books, and clothing as well as gift certificates to children, youth and families we serve.

The success of our Toy Rooms is because you assist us in stocking them. We hope you will be able to help us by donating a selection of gifts suitable for girls and boys from newborns to older youth. Many businesses and organizations ask their staff to bring gift certificates and/or new, unwrapped gifts to their holiday or seasonal parties. (more…)

National Child Day, November 20, 2009

Posted by catherine on November 20th, 2009

Each November 20th since 1993, Canada has recognized and celebrated National Child Day. Inspired by two historic events, the Declaration of the Rights of the Child (November 20 1959) and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (November 20, 1989), National Child Day was developed to celebrate children, just for being themselves.

An important part of our Agency’s mission is to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect, to advocate for their rights and to help expand their opportunities to reach their full potential. Although our Agency has been doing this important work for over 100 years - we are to an extent guided, assisted and endorsed by the provisions and principles of the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child. The Children’s Aid Society of Toronto is pleased to present its renewed strategic plan for the period 2009-2012. Through a process that extended over a one year period, our Agency crafted a vision, revised its mission and values statements,
analyzed its operating environment, consulted with employees and other stakeholders, and challenged itself to define a limited number of priorities for action that will guide our work and improve our service and value to children, families, and communities across Toronto in the coming three years. Please read our Strategic Plan here.
