Re: Turfed at 21

Seventeen years ago the CAS of Toronto Board passed a policy that stated: we believe that this Agency parents children rather than carries cases; that support should continue until youth have completed their transition to independence; and that the age of eligibility for service should be extended to allow youth to ‘catch up’ on essential skills that may have been missed as a result of life circumstances. CAS of Toronto must stop providing support to youth at 21 because the law says so. (more…)

Turning 21

“I want to thank all of the people who work hard at the CAS. Any one of you people, we should feel fortunate we got the help we needed. I’ve seen other people take a very different path. I’m glad I got that support and help during my life.” – Graduating Youth

For 51 youth at our annual Youth Recognition Night held last night on May 16, it was an event all about them, and a chance to celebrate the number 21. (more…)

Rock-a-bye Baby…Safe Sleeping Tips for Infants

On average, 3 infants a week die of SIDS in Canada. It primarily affects newborns and there is no known medical reason for the cause of death. To help your baby sleep safely you need to consider where they sleep, how they sleep, the bedding they use and what’s in the cot. (more…)
