The Children’s Aid Society of Toronto encourages birth parents who relinquish a child for adoption to be involved in the planning process to the extent that they wish.

Birth parents relinquishing a child for adoption may participate in any of the following ways in the selection of an adoptive family by:

  • Attending the adoption placement conference, and participating in the discussions to select adoptive parents
  • Meeting the prospective adoptive parent(s) to exchange wishes for and feelings about the child.
  • Asking the Society, with the agreement of the adoptive family, to act as an intermediary for the exchange of non-identifying information such as letters and pictures.
  • Providing gifts, letters or mementoes for the child at the time of adoption placement.

To contact the adoption department, contact 416-924-4646 and ask for Adoption or e-mail adoption@TorontoCAS.ca
